It may be of little comfort that you are far from alone if you suffer from Insomnia, Sleep Apnea or some other kind of sleep disorder. That's where Sleeping Aids can help.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder suffered by many. Insomniacs suffer from the ability to sleep or to remain asleep for any length of time.

Sleep is a state of natural rest. Regular, restful sleep is necessary for survival. Just as importantly, it is necessary for normal, optimal functioning and good health. The ability to be aroused from sleep is also a necessary function of survival in humans and throughout the animal kingdom. It is a protective mechanism which is also vital for both survival and good health. But when natural sleep is interrupted on a regular basis without good reason, you have a sleep disorder.

There are many reasons for sleep disorders, chief of which are likely to be stress, fear, anxiety, depression and tension. If you suffer from any of these when you are awake, you are all the more likely to suffer sleeping difficulties at night. We all have occasional bad nights when we toss and turn and find ourselves fully awake in the early hours of the morning and can't get back off to sleep. That is perfectly normal. But if it is a regular occurrence for you, that is not normal and you need help.
The average person needs eight to nine hours sleep a day. Of course some individuals function perfectly well with less, but that is the recommended average. If six or seven hours is perfectly normal for you, that's fine.

While a quick power nap at lunchtime is perfectly in order, it is better that your eight to nine hours is taken at night, and in one go. Sleeping is a learned habit. Get into the habit of sleeping any old time it suits and your nighttime sleep is bound to be affected. Getting into the habit of sleeping for the recommended number of hours, at a regular time, should help improve most sleep problems. But if you wake up at various times during the night and find difficulty in getting back to sleep, read on.

The following sleeping tips will help:

Counting Sheep:
Counting sheep might be something of a cliche, but it works for some people, if only because it bores them to sleep. If you want to try a slightly similar but more interesting alternative, close your eyes and imagine a large picture frame with the canvas painted white. Starting in any one corner, begin slowly to paint it black one brush stroke at a time. Work from that one corner to the opposite corner with wide brush strokes so that the white canvas gradually turns black. With any luck you'll find you're never awake long enough to picture a completely black canvas!

Learn to Relax:
It may seem obvious, but relaxation is an imporant key to getting a good nights sleep. If you go to bed relaxed, you'll be far more likely to drift off into a restful, natural sleep. Sleeping, like any habit, is a learned experience just like walking and talking. Perhaps you just need to re-train yourself to sleep more effectly.

Warm Bath:
Take a warm bath. Add a few drops of an aromatherapy oil. Lavender is best known because it helps you to relax and unwind after a stressful day.

Warm Milk:
Drinking a glass of warm milk may help you to relax. It must be milk though - no tea of coffee because the caffeine will just keep you awake even longer!

Relaxation Techniques:
Practice relaxation techniques such as Meditation to help you to sleep. This is a proven method perfected by many sleep disorder sufferers. It helps to clear the mind of the day's stress and frustration and assists in natural sleep.

Soothing Music:
Listen to soothing music. Listening to soothing music will help you to drift off to sleep naturally.

Aromatherapy Oils & Massage Techniques:
Using aromatherapy oils together with massage techniques are being increasingly used to overcome sleep problems.
